148. Edward BARTLETT (Edward Nathaniel , Edward James , Nathaniel , Charles , Charles Cox , Thomas , Samuel , William , Samuel , Peter , William , Thomas ) was born 1905.

Edward, the oldest child of Edward Nathaniel and Mary Elizabeth, was born in 1905 at Sebright Road in Barnet.  In his early life, he worked at various jobs trying to make ends meet.  He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force on July 12, 1929 and was posted to Camp Borden near Barrie, Ontario.  It was there that he met his future wife, Dora Middlebrook.  Edward was later posted to the base at Trenton, Ontario, and while there he built a cottage at Carrying Place in his spare time.  He served in the Armed Forces until December 13, 1960.  He and Dora then moved into their cottage at Carrying Place where he worked for a year or two delivering the mail, but otherwise just enjoyed his retirement.
    Edward and Dora had one son, Edward Albert who was born at Barrie, Ontario in 1938.  After serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force, Edward Albert was employed by Texaco Oil Company . and later by Kenting Aviation.  He presently has his own business in Florida, U.S.A., living there during the winter and spending most of the summer at his cottage near Huntsville, Ontario, Canada.  He married Valerie Stewart in 1965 and they had two children: 1) Lynn Christine Bartlett, 2) David Stewart Bartlett.

Edward married Dora MIDDLEBROOK.

152. Ronald Cecil DAWES (Florence Annie BARTLETT , Edward James , Nathaniel , Charles , Charles Cox , Thomas , Samuel , William , Samuel , Peter , William , Thomas ) was born 1 Feb 1903.

Ronald was born in February of 1903 and the birth was registered at Barnet.  He married Muriel, who was an adopted child.  He tried his hand at the insurance business then worked as a bus conductor.  From that he opened a butcher's shop with some help from his father.
    Finally, circa 193 1, he sold the butcher's shop to his uncle Perce Faulkner when his wife inherited a greengrocers business at Twickenharn.  He stayed at Twickenham until he retired and then moved to Reading where he died.
    Ronald and Muriel had one child, a daughter Ruth.

Ronald married MURIEL.

Lilian married (1) Lawrence William HOOKER. Lawrence was born 15 Feb 1905. He died 15 May 1959 in Canada.

159. Dorothy Joyce BARTLETT (Frederick , Edward James , Nathaniel , Charles , Charles Cox , Thomas , Samuel , William , Samuel , Peter , William , Thomas ) was born 14 Oct 1925 in Carshalton.

Dorothy was born on October 14, 1925.  She says that she still has fond memories of the "Grove" and the places where she played as a child.  She was married at Carlshalton on September 20, 1947 to Llewellyn William Williams who was a design engineer.
In 1952, Dorothy and Llewellyn moved to Crawley.  They had two children:
        1)       Janet Caroline, born on May 25, 1957 at Luckfield, married John Burnett on May 12,1979.
        2)       Claire Margaret, born in Crawley on July 25, 1967, unmarried.

Dorothy married Llewellyn William WILLIAMS on 20 Sep 1947 in Carshalton.

160. Mary FAULKNER (Minnie May BARTLETT , Edward James , Nathaniel , Charles , Charles Cox , Thomas , Samuel , William , Samuel , Peter , William , Thomas ) was born 1921.

Mary spent most of her childhood at Berkhamsted.  In 1933 she started to work in hairdressing and continued with it for a  number of years.
One of the great loves of Mary's life was swimming.  There were very few days that she didn't go for a swim.
Around 1938 she met Francis (Frank) Owen Slatter and they were married in 1941. In 1942 their daughter Diane was born at Berkhamsted.  During the war years Mary lived with her parents while her husband Frank was in the Royal AirForce serving in Italy and Africa.
They moved to Hemel Hempstead in 1948 and were still there as of 1991.  They had three children:
Diane, born 1942 at Berkhamsted, became a tax officer, and was married in 1982 to John Matthews (born 1943).
David, born 1948 at Hemel Hempstead, became an accountant and worked for an American firm that deals in heart valves and the like at Dunstable. He was married in 1974 to Wendy Hawkins (born 1947) who was an air hostess, and had three children:i) Nicholas Patrick, born 1978; ii) Andrew Francis, born 1981; iii) Elizabeth Jane, born 1984.
Robin, born 1955 at Hemel Hempstead, became a. entomologist and did a considerable amount of travelling around the world.  He was married in 1978 to Susan Smart (born 1954), a teacher, and had two children: i) Christopher Michael, born 1984; ii) Rebecca

Mary married Francis Owen SLATTER in 1941.
