90. James Ellis
Very little is know. about the Ellis Family. We do know however that the grandfather of Isabella Sarah Ellis as named John Ellis, and that he had at least one child, a son named James.
James Ellis was born circa 1828 at Waltham Cross. He married Harriet Woodard, who was from Edmonton, Middlesex, on August 14, 1853 at the church of St. James in Enfield. She had also been born circa 1828.
After their marriage, James and Harriet lived in Enfield, Middlesex for a short time. Their daughter Isabella Sarah as born there in 1854. The family then moved to Goffs Oak, Hertfordshire, where two sons, Edward Charles and Amos James were born.
According to the 1861 census, the family was living in the village of Mimms, Middlesex and daughter Harriet Clara ,as one yea, old and born at South Mimms. However, the only Harriet Clara Ellis in the registry of births was registered at Uxbridge, so it is possible that the family made a short stay at Uxbridge before moving to Mimms Village where James was a journeyman Blacksmith.
Sometime after the census in 1861, the family moved to Barnet, where their last three children were born. In 1871, James was a blacksmith, living at Tapster Street, Barnet. It is not known if this was also his place of business. James died in 1891. Harriet died February 20, 1913 in Barnet.
